Detailed course itinerary

Go learn to surf on one of Portugal’s most stunning beaches with near perfect surf conditions. Situated on Baleal beach, this school is just 5km from Peniche.

This package includes accommodation just 100 meters from the beach, surf lessons and use of all surf equipment throughout the week so you can practice your new found skills in your free time.

You will be taught by highly qualified, experienced instructors who have been perfecting teaching techniques for over 15 years that will have you up on your board in no time.

On your first day, you will be kitted out with a surf board and wet suit suitable for your level of experience.

Once you have your gear, you'll hit the beach to start your lessons with a demonstration and training on the sand before hitting the water. This course is ideal for beginners looking to get up on the board for the first time.

Class Start Days
- Surf lessons run year round
- The surf camp programme starts on Sundays during high season; those travelling in low season can begin the camp on any day of the week


Class Schedule
- Each day, you will have 2 hours of surfing lessons twice per day, a total of 4 hours tuition per day


What will I learn?
- Safety issues
- The geography and history of Peniche
- The history of surf
- How to handle the board in the water
- Where to position yourself at sea
- How to clear the breaking zone and deal with white water
- How to stand and lie on the board
- Line up positioning
- How to paddle to catch the waves
- Techniques to clear the break point and surge to the crest of the wave
- You’ll also visit a renowned surf board factory to see how surf boards are made
- If you are an intermediate surfer, you'll be taught skills suitable for your level and taken to spots to challenge and improve your surfing ability


Accommodation
- The Surf House is a modern, clean building just 100m from the beach, ideal for young easy going surfers looking for a fun holiday
- You will bunk in with other surf students in a shared room
- The house has 5 rooms sleeping a maximum of 20 guests in total
- There are 3 bathrooms
- There is a large lounge with TV/DVD
- Kitchen facilities are available
- The house has a large patio overlooking the sea with BBQ facilities
- There is a reception area with free internet access for all guests


Accommodation Location
- The Surf House is located 100 metres from the beach and beach bar
- The surf school is just 200 metres away
- There is a supermarket, ATM machine across the street for provisions
- Two restaurants are close by if you don’t feel like cooking
- You’ll find a snack bar, shops 100m south of the Surf House


Equipment
- You will be kitted out in top quality Oxbow wetsuits
- This school has over 70 surf boards to choose from in sizes varying between 5’6’’ and 9´2´´
- Surf board brands a plenty from BIC to NSP including reinforced plastic boards, epoxy boards and conventional fibre boards
- The school can make shortboards, malibus, and longboards in various sizes and thicknesses to match your skill level
- If you are a complete beginner, you can use a board with higher volume and float during the first few days, switching to a smaller, more manoeuvrable board as you improve


Optional Extras
- Guests at the Surf House can rent bikes from the surf school


Free Time
- Hang out with your fellow surfers in the beach bar or visit the nearby club where you might find your surf instructor behind the turntables
- This includes surf equipment for the full week so you can practice in your free time

- Stunning Baleal beach, 5km north of Peniche, is uniquely positioned and offers ideal conditions and mild weather for both beginners and experienced surfers year round
