The rich colours and beauty of the tropical paradise that is Costa Rica make a perfect setting for a photography course. Your talented local guide will take you to breathtaking spots so that you can take home unique photos to really be proud of.

Suitable for first time photographers to professionals looking to learn new techniques, this course can be tailored to your own personal level of experience. You’ll also learn the basics of photo editing using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, while the more advanced learn new techniques and the best way to apply these to your work.

Your Spanish course will be taught by highly qualified native Spanish speakers who have a passion for teaching and use proven teaching techniques. Classes are small to ensure personal attention to accelerate your learning. With an emphasis on fun lessons and Spanish conversation, you’ll see your confidence improve each day.

Optional language labs are offered daily with your teachers, which are designed to reinforce the work you’ve covered in class through games, conversation or homework assistance.

Accommodation is included in the popular student residence. The student residence is a great place to hang out with other students at the school and is just minutes from Jaco beach and the waters of the Pacific Ocean.

I'm a solo traveller - can I join?

- Most people on these holidays travel solo as they make great singles holidays
- This school in Costa Rica is really social and the focus is on making friends, learning a new skill and most importantly, having fun!
- The school organises a host of social & cultural activities to help you get to know your classmates
- This holiday is perfect for solo travellers to meet like-minded students
- There is NO single supplement for solo travellers who are happy to share a room with another solo traveller of the same sex
- However, if you would prefer your own room, this can be booked for an additional supplement subject to availability

When can I start?
- Classes start weekly and run year round
- Accommodation is included in the price of this course, you'll check-in on the Sunday before the course starts and check out the Saturday after the course ends
- Your classes will take place Monday to Friday
- It’s not a problem if you’d like to extend your stay and this school offers longer duration courses – just email us at and we’ll be happy to arrange a course to suit you

Spanish language level test
- On your first day, you will take a short level test
- This test will assess your understanding of the language and will help the course organisers to place you in the right group class for your level

Spanish and photography holiday itinerary
Your classes will take place on Monday to Friday, and the exact times will be confirmed during your stay

Digital photography
- You will have 10 hours of photography classes per week fitting in around your Spanish classes

Spanish language
- You will have 2 group lessons per day from Monday to Friday
- You join the teacher again later in the day for an optional one hour lesson in the language lab designed to help you learn more Spanish through games, readings, conversation practice, culture and history lessons

- Your tutors are all fully qualified and are extremely passionate about their teaching
- Your tutors will teach in a fun and informal style with the aim to accelerate your learning to the next level
- Instructors aim to inspire and pass on their passion during your classes and will encourage and give confidence to you through their teaching

What will I learn?
- You will learn techniques on how to choose your subject and capture the best shot
- Beginners will gain a working knowledge of the elements of digital photography including lighting, composition, apertures, shutter speeds
- During your days in the studio, you will learn how to edit and enhance your shots using software such as Photoshop and Adobe light room
- More advanced level students will learn new techniques and the best way to apply these to your work
- During your days in the studio, you will learn how to edit your shots
- You will visit a number of different, inspiring locations to capture your images including the jungle, beaches, waterfalls, towns and more

Spanish language lessons
- Spanish courses are focused on having fun and classes are highly interactive
- You will focus on the four main Spanish language skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening but a heavy emphasis will be on conversation
- There will be individual and group work such as role plays and conversation practice
- You’ll also work on developing your grammar in practical contexts
- You will learn with a wide range of teaching aids; language text books, Spanish press, audio/video, Spanish songs or games and each week your linguistic skills are assessed to ensure you are always in the right group for your level
- Please note all Spanish lessons will be held in the native language of Spanish; a proven teaching technique that will fully immerse you in the language and accelerate your learning experience
- You also have the option of topping up your group classes with up to 8 hours per week of self-learning in the language learning lab designed to help you learn more Spanish through games, readings, conversation practice, culture and history lessons

Where will I stay?
- During your course you'll stay in the popular student residence in the school grounds
- Prices are based on arrivals on the Sunday before your course starts and end on the Saturday morning after your course has finished
- It's located just a few minutes walk from the beach in a quiet neighbourhood close to the centre of Jacó
- Decorated in tropical hardwoods and bamboo, stained glass and mosaic floors, it's the perfect place to relax and enjoy the Costa Rican way of life
- If you are travelling solo, you can either can share a room with 1 other guest (of the same sex) and between you will have a private bathroom or if you are a solo traveller, you can book a private room for an extra supplement and note that these rooms sell out fast during peak season (December-March and May-August)
- Rooms are safe and clean and have air conditioning, ceiling fans, hot water, fridges and all students share a basic kitchen and communal areas

Room options in the residence
Standard shared rooms

A great option for travellers on a budget. All shared rooms are double occupancy with twin single beds. Solo travellers will be paired with a roommate of the same sex.

Upgraded shared rooms
For an additional supplement, these rooms are located in the main building of the school which has a tropical treehouse feel. They have all the same features as the standard shared rooms but have one double bed and one single bed.

Deluxe private room
For an additional supplement, this option is great for couples or solo travellers looking to treat themselves! These rooms have a comfortable king size bed and all the features of a standard room plus a complimentary bath towel service.

Home stay accommodation
- What to experience local Costa Rican culture? Why not stay with a local family? This is great chance to immerse yourself in the culture, get to know the locals and even improve your Spanish
- Families are located 10-15 minute walking distance from the school

Are meals included?
- No meals are included in this package unless you choose the Home Stay option where breakfast and dinner are provided daily (email for more information)
- The school has a fully equipped kitchen and there are plenty of bars, restaurants and grocery stores located just a short walk from the school for you to explore and eat out with your fellow students

What can I do in my free time?
- There is so much to see and do around the area of Jaco Beach
- You can choose to take a field trip kayaking and snorkelling along the coast and a waterfall hike to the 'Three Pools'
- A variety of marine life can be seen around the reefs including tropical fish, lobster, corals, and much more
- Other optional excursions through the school include visits to the Rainforest or a Crocodile River tour
- You will have plenty of time to kick back on the surf beaches and relax or practice your new found skills
