This fantastic one-on-one photography holiday is aimed at beginner photographers and those with a little experience. The week long digital photography course includes private photography classes with 2 tutors and will cover everything you’ll need for a photography holiday in Spain. You’ll get to grips with your camera and come home with pictures you’ll be proud to show your friends and family.

Sitting at the edge of one of the world’s largest cork forest, surrounded by the magic of the pueblos blancos (white villages) of Spain with castles and ruins dating back to Roman and Moorish times and cave paintings, lies the village of Casares, the setting for your photography holiday.

This week long photography course will immerse you in the art of photography and will take you to some of the most beautiful un-spoilt natural areas and photogenic pueblos blancos of Spain.

Your welcoming hosts Sue and Alberto will teach you not only how to use the controls on your digital camera but also how to best express what you are seeing and feeling through your photography.

Enjoy fantastic accommodation in the village of Casares, delicious food cooked by Alberto, good wine, and great hospitality on this fun, hands-on photography course.

Capture spectacular landscapes, dramatic seascapes, beautiful buildings, forests and stunning sunsets and learn new photography skills that will stay with you long after the holiday is over.


Suitability
- This course is aimed at complete beginners through to those with just a little photography experience although more advanced photography enthusiasts can be catered for
- Please note that any digital camera you have will be suitable for this course (fancy cameras not needed although you are welcome to bring any camera you have)
- Minimum age 18
- Courses are based on a one-on-one basis with private lessons and NO single supplements making this a perfect choice for a singles holiday
- The course is focused on digital photography


Week Photography Course Start Days
- All arrivals are on Sunday afternoon and departures are on Saturday morning so this is a 6 night / 7 day holiday

Typical Week Digital Photography Course Itinerary
Please note that itineraries change depending on the time of year, the weather, festivals happening in the area so the following itinerary is for guidance only:

Day 1 Sunday - Arrival day and airport pick up
- Sunday is your arrival day
- You’ll be collected from Gibraltar or Malaga airport, flight times to be confirmed at the time of booking
- After the short drive to the village, you’ll settle into your accommodation and will enjoy dinner that evening accompanied by wine and soft drinks

Day 2 Monday – Getting to know your camera
- Enjoy breakfast before spending the morning at the house getting to know your individual cameras and their functions as well as expressing to Sue and Alberto what you’d like to get out of your photography course
- Lunch is included and is taken at the house
- After lunch once you have a better grasp of what your cameras can do you’ll set off with both photographers to the village to learn about exposure, depth of field controls, menu functions and more putting your new found skills into practice
- During the afternoon you'll become more confident and familiar with the controls of your camera allowing you to become more creative with your photography visiting Rio Hozgarganta one of the few remaining undammed rivers in Andalucía
- In the evening return to your accommodation and again enjoy a delicious dinner with wine

Day 3 Tuesday – Ronda
- Enjoy breakfast before setting out to the historic town of Ronda to get creative and learn how to capture great pictures
- The historic town of Ronda is built on an escarpment with views of the surrounding mountains, soak up the ‘real’ Spanish atmosphere and explore the historic centre full of architectural gems crowned by the oldest Bullring in Spain
- Lunch is included and is taken at a Tapas bar in Ronda
- After lunch return to Casares via the very scenic train ride down through the valley, along the Mr. Henderson railway, the British engineer responsible for the construction of the Ronda-Algeciras line which was once known as the Smugglers Express
- The rest of the afternoon will be spent reviewing the day’s activities
- In the evening again enjoy a delicious dinner with wine

Day 4 Wednesday – Tarifa
- Enjoy breakfast before heading off to the wild and windy coast of Tarifa for the day
- The old fishing town of Tarifa, just 11 km across the Straits of Gibraltar at its narrowest point, is the southern-most tip of Europe where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic Ocean
- Tarifa is known for its wind and is the best place to learn to kitesurf as well as enjoying spectacular views of the Rif mountains of Africa across the water
- Mountains, wild seascapes and kites provide the backdrop for an incredible day of shooting by the sea
- Lunch is included and is taken at a café in Tarifa and in the evening you’ll return to the village for lunch at the house

Day 5 Thursday – Pueblos Blancos, downloading & editing
- Enjoy breakfast before spending the morning on the ‘Route of the Pueblos Blancos’, an absorbing circuit taking in the incredibly diverse mountain ranges and the striking villages of the area
- Lunch is included and is taken at the house
- After lunch you’ll download your pictures and will have an introduction to photo editing and photoshop before dinner

Day 6 Friday – Sunrise shoot & photoshop
- Rise early today for a sunrise shoot in the village near the famous 13th century Jimena castle and around the village
- After your morning shoot, return to the house for a delicious brunch
- After brunch you’ll download your final pictures and will continue your lesson on editing and using photoshop before your farewell dinner

Day 7 Saturday – Departure Day
- Enjoy breakfast at the house before being driven to Gibraltar or Malaga airport in the morning for your flight home
 

What Will I Learn?
- As you are receiving private tuition with 2 photographers, you’ll have expert guidance and tuition will be adapted to each client’s needs and your own individual digital cameras
- You will get to know the basics such as composition, depth of field, best use of your camera settings
- Learn how to best use light and the feeling different light gives to your photographs
- You’ll also learn how to ‘slow down’ to really see an image
- You'll learn how to download images, understand different file formats, learn about photo editing software to enhance your images including the -
- The week course will give you a great introduction to taking better pictures and aims to inspire you to take your photography skills to the next level


Your Photography Tutors
Passionate about photography, your hosts are both photographers with complementary skills. Sue is Australian and exhibits her photographs in both Australia and Spain in private and public collections. Alberto is Spanish and is a keen photographer with a passion for food, wine and Spain so you can expect not only a creative week but a cultural one.


Your Accommodation And Meals
- Accommodation is in a village house that has stunning views of the surrounding area the pueblo blanco Casares
- You will have individual accommodation in a queen bed with cotton linen, towels and all the home comforts with an exclusive use full bathroom
- Singles are welcome and there’s no single supplement making this photography week a great singles holidays
- Check in is on Sunday afternoon with check-out Saturday morning by 11am at the end of your course (6 nights/7 days), alternative dates  and times can be catered for
- You will have breakfast daily at the house
- Lunch is usually taken either at the house or in a tapas bar or cafe on location depending on where you are shooting that day, you may also have picnic lunches
- A fabulous dinner each night is included with wine and soft drinks where you’ll experience the fresh, seasonal food from the region cooked by your host Alberto who has a passion for food and many years experience cooking as he grew up in restaurants and lovingly cooks food sourced locally from the producers and markets (organic when available)
- Vegetarian and any dietary requests can be catered for, just add your special request at the time of booking


Extra Nights
- If you wish to come a day early or stay longer, we will do our best to accommodate you. Extra night prices vary but cost from £90 per night, if you’d like to extend your stay, please email with your ideal dates and we will come back to you with availability and prices very quickly


Short On Time?

Transfers and Transport
- Pick up and drop off to/from Gibraltar or Malaga airport is included in the price, arrivals and departures times to be agreed when booking
- You will be out and about for most of the day around the village and local area and all transport will be included as you get off the beaten track, down dirt roads, through forests and out to beaches


Weather Conditions and Itinerary
- Your photography tutors will alter the itinerary if the weather doesn’t offer the best conditions for photographing the area


What To Bring
- Bring your own digital camera (with manual), charger and memory cards and if you have one; a tripod
- Note: It is not necessary to have any particular kind of digital camera as this course is designed mainly for beginners to help you get to grips with your camera and to get the best pictures out of it
- You may wish to bring a laptop to download your photographs but this is not essential
- Please bring suitable footwear for walking as you will be spending a lot of time exploring the different areas and a sun hat and rain jacket (just in case!)
