From romantic lounge clubs to isolated bays, lively restaurants and unspoilt landscapes, this 7 night sailing and painting holiday offers a truly unique and versatile experience. Paleros is the perfect place to relax, de-stress and soak up a truly spectacular location, not forgetting to take a cooling dip in one of the striking blue lagoons whilst your water colour creations dry beneath the gorgeous sun. 

You will begin this dynamic and exciting week with 3 nights in a traditional yet vibrant fishing town of Paleros, where you will develop your painting skills under the watchful and experienced eyes of painting tutor Barbara.

Through a mixture of patience, attentiveness and experience, she will help you to reach your potential faster than you thought possible. You will have the time of your life, expressing stunning landscapes and traditional architecture against inviting blank canvases. Whether you are a complete beginner, or have a wealth of experience, your artistic creations are bound to amaze yourself.

After this transformative and therapeutic experience, you’ll set sail for 4 nights of adventure aboard the gorgeous Catalina sailing boat. Bid a fond farewell to Barbara and the lively local nightlife, and prepare for a voyage sure to take your breath away. 

The basic yet charming Catalina sailing boat will be your much-loved home throughout your sailing and blue-lagoon experience. The pace and experience will be set by you. For those with a desire to sail, you are welcome to help man the sails and steer a true course. Alternatively, spend this time relaxing, swimming in unpolluted sea and sunbathing on isolated golden beaches.

With inspirational surroundings, why use this time to further develop your artistic streak. Bob, the captain of the sailing boat, is also an experienced photographer, so rain or shine, there will be so much for you to see and do.

Sailing And Painting Holiday Start Days
- Start dates for this painting and sailing holidays are flexible throughout the Summer

- Please note that it is possible to take this painting and sailing course in the winter months however flights to Preveza stop in October so you would have to make your way overland by car or bus from Athens instead if you wish to travel between November and March, buses run regularly from Athens and cost 30 euros each way and take about 5 hours


Sailing And Painting Holiday Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival Day
- Arrive in Paleros and check-in to your accommodation any time after 2pm
- Please note that you’ll be allocated a twin/double room in a local apartment within walking distance of the artist studio and the exact name of the apartment will be given to you shortly after booking (see below for more details of the apartments)
 
Day 2 -3 – Painting Days
- You’ll take a short walk to the harbour area where you’ll relax over a morning coffee with your painting tutor Barbara to discuss your aims for the course and inspiration
- There will be around 2-3 hours of tuition each day where you'll be picking up tips and tricks to improve your skills and to develop your creativity before you’ll again break for free time before
- After your morning coffee around 9am, your tutor will help you set up your easel to start your first lesson at various locations around the village, the exact location depends on your requirements and may be by the harbour with a sea view, in the village so you can paint village life or even painting one of the pretty streets, the choice is yours
- After around 2-3 hours of painting and drawing, you’ll break for a drink, lunch and the afternoon are at your leisure
- You may wish to continue to paint on your own during the afternoon or take a break and relax or explore the local area
- Please note that Barbara's style of tuition is very laid-back and relaxed and she is on hand to guide rather than 'teach' in a structured way

Day 4 – Painting Day & Sailing Day
- Start the morning at 9am meeting in the harbour cafe for your morning coffee before setting up in the location of your choice around the village
- There will be around 2-3 hours of tuition each day where you'll be picking up tips and tricks to improve your skills and to develop your creativity before you’ll again break for free time
- This afternoon, you’ll move to the sailing boat ready for your sailing experience around the stunning Greek islands
- Stay overnight on the boat and get to know your friendly sailor Bob who will be your host for the next few days aboard the boat

Days 5-7 – Sailing Days
- Explore the seas on your relaxing sailing journey with captain Bob, to secret bays and shallow blue lagoons where you can have the time of your life
- Bob will explain the basics of sailing to you (only if you want!) and you can him out with the sails and steering of his beautiful yacht
- You may even take a sketch book or camera because the bays you visit are truly magic and you may even spot the incredible blue kingfisher bird!
- There will be enough time to swim in the blue clear waters or doze off with a book and a drink – the pace is set by you
- Bob's incredible sailing experience will inspire you and he is not only a captain, but also a professional photographer
- Please note if the weather is not good enough for sailing there are other great alternatives at hand which Bob will go through with you

Day 8 – Check Out
- Wake up on the sailing boat for the last time as you return back to land, ready to leave Paleros bursting with new skills and memories to last a lifetime


What Will I Learn On This Sailing And Painting Holiday?
- At the start of your course you will have the chance to discuss your own personal goals and aims for the painting classes
- If you have some painting and drawing experience Barbara, will help you to develop your existing painting and drawing skills as well as giving you useful tips to help you develop new skills and techniques
- If you are a complete beginner Barbara will help you with the basics and will set you off on a path to developing your own artists personality
- Barbara will be on hand to advise you on light, space, lines, balance, weight, saturation, tone, shine and colour
- You’ll also learn how to eliminate creative blocks and draw out your unique painting style
- You are free to choose to paint in oils or watercolour, use crayons, pastels, pencil or any other medium you wish
- Over 5 days, take the opportunity to try new mediums if you wish under the guidance of Barbara
 - Barbara's tuition style is very relaxed and she doesn't believe in following painting rules exactly but if a guests wants more guidance she is always on hand to help
- During your sailing trip, Bob will explain the basics of sailing to you
- You’ll also be able to help him out with the sails and steering of his beautiful yacht


Sailing And Painting Holiday Equipment And Materials
- Drawing boards, white spirit and stools provided
- All other basic study equipment and materials such as watercolours, crayons, oil and acryl paint are also provided
- If you wish, you are free to bring more extended materials and equipment of your own to work with

Sailing And Painting Accommodation
- You will spend 3 nights in 1 of 5 carefully selected local family run apartments during your painting course and then 4 nights aboard the picturesque 36ft (11 metres) Catalina Sailing Boat
- You will sometimes paint in your hosts’ mountain residence, where they have two dogs and a cat
Apartment Stay
- The lovely apartments that you will be staying in are situated conveniently close to the harbour, offering beautiful views and plenty of bars and restaurants to keep you busy throughout the evenings
- Alternatively, for around 10 euro per meal, your host is able to cook for you during the evenings
- Vegetarian options are available on request. If you have any special dietary requirements, please notify us to these at the time of booking so that suitable arrangements can be made
- Rooms are simply decorated in the traditional Greek style, with private en-suite bathroom for your twin or double room
- Hosts are friendly and accommodating, with the apartments having been hand-picked by the tutors,  with convenience and comfort in mind  Aboard the Catalina Sailing Boat
- After your time in the pretty Greek Harbour, you will spend 4 nights aboard the Catalina 36 ft. (11 metres) sailing yacht called ‘Splash’ for your unique sailing and blue lagoon experience
- You will have your own cabin and there is a shower and toilet on board
- Please note that private ensuite bathrooms are not available for this part of your holiday
- The Catalina Sailing Boat offers the chance to explore stunning, isolated beaches and is simply furnished with all necessary basic appliances and facilities
- However, please note that this is not a luxury sailing yacht
- Dimensions are 36ft (11 metres), and with up to 5 people on board at a time, conditions are not spacious
- You will bring your own food and provisions aboard for this part of the stay, although your hosts are happy to help you arrange this
- Please note, in the unlikely case of very choppy weather conditions, it may be deemed safer to carry out some photography workshops with your captain Bob on the more stormy days
