Join this 7 night / 8 day ceramic and culture holiday in this amazing, lush part of the Ionian isles on the island of Zakynthos. Combining ceramics with the colourful culture and history on this magical island will give you unlimited access to inspiration around every corner.

This holiday is an authentic Zakynthian experience for travellers who want to embrace all they can on their holiday time and who are looking for a real change from the normal mass-produced tours. In addition, it allows you to take home a very special keepsake made by you to remind you of your time spent on the magical isle.

This is a complete tour centred around the traditional, local and the wonderfully hospitable life of Zakynthos island and its people. It covers every aspect, from history to music, farm to table, ocean to mountains, from old town to new town, in addition to some wildlife. All of this is on offer to inspire you as you go through the process of molding, painting and firing clay into a lasting, unique reminder of your holiday.

The ceramic holiday includes family-run accommodation in comfortable fully equipped rooms, with your Greek host family on site at all times; an authentic Greek home away from home. You will pick up new art skills, taste local dishes, meet some of the island’s producers, and get to see all the great elusive spots special to the island.

Ceramics and culture holiday itinerary
The itinerary is for guidance only and is subject to change depending on the group’s needs and wishes but is typically as follows:

Day 1 - Arrival and welcome seaside dinner
- On arrival, you will be collected from the airport and transferred to the villa; your home for the week and you will have time to unpack and settle in
- Later that day, you will join your hosts for an informal welcome meeting to get to know one another and talk about the week ahead
- That evening you are free to spend it as your please before a welcome dinner in a seaside taverna

Day 2 - Ceramic workshop and picnic
- After breakfast, you’ll head out to Dionysia’s ceramic studio for your first lesson
- After your studio time, around 2 hours, take some time to freshen up and get ready for a countryside picnic before being transported back to your accommodation
- This afternoon and evening will be yours to enjoy the village at your leisure; if you have something particular in mind, your hosts will be happy to help you plan something

Day 3 - Ceramic workshop and a stop at Tsilivi beach
- Spend the morning continuing to work on your piece at the studio
- Afterwards, you will be taken to the beautiful seaside resort of Tsilivi, where you can swim, shop, have a coffee or some lunch, and enjoy the day in the sun
- The evening is yours to enjoy

Day 4 - Swimming at Shipwreck Bay & a farm-to-fork culinary experience
- Wake up at your own pace today and enjoy a relaxing summer morning in your lovely villa accommodation
- Around midday, you’ll set off for an exciting drive to the north of the island once again, with several gastronomic stops along the way, including a visit to an olive oil farm
- You will have a delightful boat ride to the world famous Shipwreck Bay for a once in a lifetime swimming opportunity
- Lunch will be at a wonderful family owned and run traditional mountain taverna where you will help Grandma cook a traditional Zakynthos lunch using a secret family recipe
- As your meal cooks, get to know the farm and its gardens, trees and animals then reward yourself with your homemade meal at the taverna

Day 5 - Free day
- Today is yours to spend as you wish; lying on the beach, a dip in the sea or exploring more of the island's sights

Day 6 - Leisure time at the resort, ceramic workshop and dinner
- Enjoy your morning at the sweeping bay near your accommodation where you can swim in the crystal clear water, try some snorkeling, take a leisurely walk or enjoy the many shops and tavernas
- Keep an eye out for the famed Caretta Caretta sea turtles!
- When it cools down a bit, head back to the studio for some ceramic work, then enjoy some homemade lemonade under the trees while you take a break, before adding the finishing touches to your signature piece
- Afterwards, we head to the hilltop village of Bohali, where you can visit the chapel or enjoy a drink in one of the many cafes

Day 7 - Ceramic workshop & free evening 
- After breakfast, head to the studio to finish any pieces you may be working on
- Afterwards, the day is yours to enjoy your favourite spots on the island

Day 8 - Departure day
- Enjoy a traditional breakfast at the villa and maybe your last dip in the sea
- When it is time to leave, your driver will take you safely to the airport for your departure


About your hosts and ceramics tutor
- Your host Denia was born and raised in Zakynthos, and studied Economics in the UK and now runs the family business
- Antonis, her father, is in charge of all transfers, trips out, any additional driving you may need - he also makes makes his own olive oil and wine!
- Effie, the mother, is in charge of all things domestic and is always there if you need anything
- Your ceramics tutor, Dionysia, started art as most of us do - as a child playing in mud!
- Upon completing high school, she went to Athens to studying ceramics and painting for 5 years
- After working for many years in various ceramic studios in Athens, gaining new techniques and experience, she came back to Zakynthos in 1996 to open her own studio
- Ever since, she has been using the inspiration of the life and nature of the island to craft her original pieces


What will I learn?
- Dionysia will provide you with all the necessary equipment, materials, inspiration, and guidance, and will encourage you to acquire or enhance your ceramic skills within a relaxed and friendly atmosphere
- The course features throwing, firing, assembling pieces, glazing and decorating techniques
- As you will be practicing in a small group, tuition will be adapted to each participant’s specific needs, whether it is learning the fundamentals of ceramics or taking your existing skills to the next level

- Check in anytime after 12pm on day 1 and check out by 12am on day 8
