You are welcomed to this 300 year old rural retreat as if it were your own home set in the beautiful village of Alájar, and is situated just 100km west of Seville.

Lovingly restored to a high standard whilst retaining many of the original features and charm and combined with environmentally-friendly features, this small hotel boasts 6 ensuite bedrooms and is the perfect setting for your relaxing holiday.

Alájar is in the heart of a Natural Park, Parque Natural de Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche, and is an ideal base to discover this hidden gem, surprising all with its abundance of flora, fauna and vegetation. Backing onto the ribera de Alájar and with only a cork oak clad hill behind the gardens, peace and tranquillity is predominant in this already tranquil village where life rolls on with the cars struggling to get around the narrow maze of traditionally cobbled streets.

Alájar is the region famous for the prized Iberian Ham - not to be confused with Serrano Ham! The Iberian Pig a small black animal native to the Iberian peninsula which thrives here due to the dehesa (farmed woodland) developed through the centuries to provide it’s favourite food - the acorn.

The highly prized ham from the front (paleta) and back (jamón) is air-cured for up to 5 years before it is ready for carving and has 2 “Denominaciones de Origen”.

Your hosts Lucy and Ángel are passionate about the area and its food, wine and olive oils and will be on hand at all times to ensure your stay in unforgettable. You will gain a deep insight into the fascinating history of the area as Ángel and Lucy guide you all the way from a gourmet Andalusian breakfast to producing your own dinner with the products you have been discovering.

In your free time you can make use of one of Lucy and Ángel’s very own personally designed walking routes with notes and map provided, visit the local caves (grutas de la Maravillas) in Aracena or if you are feeling less energetic relax by the swimming pool and soak up the Andalusian sunshine.

This cookery school combines a culinary and cultural experience second to none in one of the few undiscovered areas of Spain and Andalusia which will surprise and delight you through its natural beauty, culture, heritage and history.
