Alájar is the region famous for the prized Iberian Ham - not to be confused with Serrano Ham! The Iberian Pig a small black animal native to the Iberian peninsula which thrives here due to the dehesa (farmed woodland) developed through the centuries to provide it’s favourite food - the acorn. The highly prized ham from the front (paleta) and back (jamón) is air-cured for up to 5 years before it is ready for carving and has 2 “Denominaciones de Origen”. Your hosts Lucy and Ángel are passionate about the area and its food, wine and olive oils and will be on hand at all times to ensure your stay in unforgettable. You will gain a deep insight into the fascinating history of the area as Ángel and Lucy guide you all the way from a gourmet Andalusian breakfast to producing your own dinner with the products you have been discovering. In your free time you can make use of one of Lucy and Ángel’s very own personally designed walking routes with notes and map provided, visit the local caves (grutas de la Maravillas) in Aracena or if you are feeling less energetic relax by the swimming pool and soak up the Andalusian sunshine.
