About the location

This charming 'casa' is about an hour’s drive from Bologna airport in the little known but vastly underrated region of Emilia Romagna, where you will be met by your host and whisked into the hills. Your painting holiday will be set within a natural park and UNESCO world heritage site, with stunning views and places to escape to and let yourself wander and your creativity flow.

Here in the mountains of Reggio nell'Emilia, you will find the real 'heart of Italy'. It is relatively unknown, tucked away, and well off the tourist trail. You will get to spend a week in authentic Italy, with its wonderful people, exceptional locally produced food and awe-inspiring surroundings.

Your talented and dedicated host and resident artist is Pheona, who lives here and opens her home to you to make sure you have as much tuition as you need to reach your artistic goals, as well as to make sure your belly is always full. Pheona finds her place often inspires people from the natural surroundings, but there is also a fully stocked studio for you as well, along with any medium you would like to try your hand at.

You will have a consultation with Pheona upon arrival, and you can explore what you really want to learn; whether it be oils, acrylics, portraiture or nature, she will be there to guide you through it.

Accommodation at the house has been thoughtfully planned out to inspire you and each room focuses on a different Italian artist. You will find about 100 different works of art displayed throughout the house and within each room. The apartments within the building are all self serving and spacious, and there are also common areas, such as kitchens and a lounge with a television, if you should decide to come in and lounge with a cup of tea.

Escape the tourist trail, relax, be looked after, and let your inner artist shine in this quiet, lush corner of the mountains and come home from your painting holiday refreshed and with new artistic skills and inspiration.
