Life as an intern at GoLearnTo.com

I just knew, as soon as I found the internship with GoLearnTo on enternships.com, that I had stumbled across a little gem of a company. I had been looking for jobs or internships in travel, marketing and PR, so to find it all in one company seemed like the perfect opportunity. I had never heard of GoLearnTo before (something which feels unimaginable now!) but as soon as the website popped up on my screen and I saw the amazing range of holiday courses, I couldn’t have clicked the ‘apply’ button fast enough.

The start of my internship coincided with Taste of London, an annual food festival held in Regent’s Park. I met all the lovely team and we donned Union Jack wellies, ready to promote the cookery holidays as well as other courses. Despite being rained on, sunburnt and windswept, I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend; chatting to customers and encouraging them to sign up to our cookery competition, as well as getting to know the GoLearnTo girls and more about the company.

When I arrived at the GoLearnTo headquarters a week later, I was given a warm welcome and treated like a member of the team. After a little introduction (and everyone was over the shock that I don’t like tea!) I was set up with various tasks and given real responsibilities. It was great to get so involved and know that every task was an important part of the business, from contacting suppliers and customers, to editing the website and writing blog posts. Whilst giving me the independence to work on different tasks at my own pace, the friendly, close-knit team were constantly supportive and very helpful.

Throughout my time at GoLearnTo, a few of my responsibilities included writing press releases and blog posts, detailing a variety of the holiday courses. As I had never ‘blogged’ before, I really enjoyed learning how to use WordPress and it’s something I hope to do again! I was also given the opportunity to load new courses and edit site content, as well as sourcing new images and videos and uploading them onto the website and YouTube. Being somewhat ‘technically challenged’- as Vanessa would put it! – I feel I have gained not only many new IT skills, but the confidence to use them.

I’m so happy that I found the internship with GoLearnTo; it’s been an extremely interesting experience and has helped me improve on lots of transferable skills, including communication, social media and marketing. I believe I have a greater understanding of the travel industry and feel much more prepared for future employment.

My work experience with GoLearnTo has been short but sweet and I’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all the team for making it such an enjoyable experience. It has been an absolute pleasure, you all made the 1.5 hour commute worth it!

If you want to gain an insight into one of the best online travel companies out there, learn numerous new skills, boost your CV (not to mention getting the chance to cuddle the cutest twins ever!) then I would without a doubt recommend an internship with GoLearnTo.com.

Oh and girls… I’m coming back for Nando’s!!
