What is her background?
Vanessa started practicing yoga for most of her life and in different places, such as Austria and India, and of course her hometown Vancouver. As a little girl her mother would take her to her yoga classes. Travelling through India and Thailand in 2005 had a huge impact on her, and she again returned to India in September 2010 to participate in further intensive Hatha yoga training in an ashram in Rishikesh, which was followed by a teaching opportunity in Bali, Indonesia. She returns for her third season, teaching yoga in September and October at the retreat.

What are her qualifications?
Originally as a compliment to her Cranio-sacral Therapy practice, Vanessa received her certified yoga teacher training in Vancouver in 2008 and is registered with Yoga Alliance™.

What style of yoga does she teach?
As there have been so many inspirations on Vanessa’s path, she has decided that Hatha and Vinyasa Flow are the best descriptions of the classes she loves to teach.

What are her passions?
Vanessa has been involved in health and wellness both personally and professionally since 1995 and is very passionate about her involvements, particularly the truth of Yoga. Vanessa’s love of travel and culture has led her to teach in countries such as Malta, Italy, and back to India, which has so enriched her yoga teaching.

What is it like to be taught by Vanessa?
Simply the intuitiveness of Hatha yoga allows all participants to gain something from each class as it slows us down to listen to who we are. A fun and playful approach is used to help students gain a greater understanding of anatomy and how they can relate this to their yoga practice. The focus is very much on ‘feeling the pose from the inside out’, letting the breath guide the movement, finding softness within the pose, creating space in the body and length in the spine.
