“I had a very enjoyable holiday and got to grips with my camera and some basics of artistic composition… The accommodation was very comfortable and the food was delicious!”

Peter Barratt was keen to escape the 10 hour daily slog in front of a computer and develop his photography skills – so what better way than on our Photography and Walking holiday in Spain! Read about his experience here:

Why did you choose to take this photography & walking holiday?
I liked the sound of the detailed itinerary explained on the website, and the dates suited me. Also I liked that the accommodation was eco-friendly, that all food was included (even wine!), and that the photography aspect was suitable for beginners.

How did you find the booking process with GoLearnTo.com and did anyone in particular help you?DSC_0432-2_01
Booking was very quick and straightforward.

What was your tutor like?
Simon was very friendly and flexible and gave some good pointers about the artistic composition of photos. I got to grips with my camera and some basics of artistic composition (which does not come naturally to me as an engineer!), as well as how to use Photoshop.

What was the best day of the holiday and why?
Probably the day we went out in the land rover to various different ruins and a couple of waterfalls (and getting stuck in the mud!)

How was the food?
Really delicious, I looked forward to the evening meals every day. Simon and Donna are great cooks.

What was the most interesting thing / best tip you learnt?
Getting down and lying on the floor in the mud will help to get a great angle for close up shots of mushrooms etc.

What did you think of the rural location, did it faze you with the lack of wifi/phone reception or was that a bonus?
I liked being cut off with no phone signal and no internet, it was very refreshing seeing as I normally spend 10 hours or more a day in front of a computer. There is access to wifi if you need it though which is useful, and you can get phone signal on and off when out walking.

DSC_0107-2_01Have you been practicing with your camera since you returned?
Yes, every weekend.

Would you take another holiday with GoLearnTo.com in the future?
It will be one of the first websites I go to when looking for my next holiday.

What would you tell people who were considering booking this holiday?
I would highly recommend it if you enjoy the outdoors and ‘getting away from it all’, and if you like good food and good company. You will pick up some good photography tips, especially if you are interested in the more artistic side rather than the technical side of how to use the camera.
