Flamenco Compas Rhythm Lessons

Andalucia, Granada, Spain

Detailed course itinerary

Tucked away at the top of a hill with views of the Alhambra, this maze of caves, rooms, terraces and staircases houses a traditional Flamenco studio which is used by locals, visitors, gypsies and payos from beginners to professionals.

Your experienced instructor will teach you how to master clapping techniques and the use of the feet as an accompaniment to Flamenco dance.

The compás is one of the elements which unites the three basic forms of flamenco expression: guitar, voice and dance.

Flamenco is made up of various rhythms, which are called "palos" (fandangos, tangos, alegrías, bulerías) differentiated by their rhythmic and melodic form.

The compás is normally marked by clapping, and at the end of this beginner level, students will be able to differentiate between the various flamenco rhythms. Intermediate and advanced levels are also on offer.

Express yourself on this Flamenco compás course and learn how to clap and stamp your feet to the fiery rhythm of Flamenco.
