Where is Maya from?
Maya is originally from Sweden, a nomad by birth and a teacher by nature. She has lived in 24 countries so far. With the age of 16, an accidental meeting with the Indian yoga Guru B.K.S. Iyengar ignited her passion for yoga. After this, she was fortunate to be given private classes by one of his students. She has been practicing, living, studying and teaching yoga ever since.

What are her core values?
Maya’s core values are kindness, laughter, love and the power of living in the light. By gradually learning how to stay present in each moment, she has learnt to listen to the language of her intuition and the wisdom of her soul.

What type of yoga does she teach?
She bases her methods in the essence of yoga, and her authentic voice makes the poses come alive with resonating significance that holds personal meaning for her students.

What are her qualifications?
Maya holds a master’s degree in pedagogy, where she majored in the art of teaching yoga. Furthermore she holds a degree in communication. She also has appeared on Swedish radio in a broadcast series on yoga and healing therapy and has written articles about yoga, healing and the pursuit of enlightenment, which have been published in various media outlets.

What is it like to be taught by Maya?
Her yoga classes support students to move their attention from the distractions and stresses of the world outside, to fully get into their bodies and become aware of their own, inner truths. Her holistic approach to yoga speaks to her students on the emotional, spiritual, mental and physical levels. Maya’s teachings are student-centred, and she aims to create an atmosphere which encourages spiritual growth that continues after the class has ended.
