Beginners Flamenco Guitar Course

Course itinerary

Tucked away at the top of a hill with views of the Alhambra, this maze of caves, rooms, terraces and staircases houses a traditional Flamenco studio which is used by locals, visitors, gypsies and payos from beginners to professional dancers and guitarists.

Your experienced instructor will teach you how to master the basics of playing the Flamenco guitar.

Express yourself on this beginners Flamenco guitar course and learn how to play to the fiery rhythm of Flamenco.


Suitability
- Suitable for those who are able to play the guitar
- Please note that you must be have a good grasp of scales, tuning, arpeggios and cords before enrolling on this Flamenco guitar course
- Minimum age 16
- Please note that the lessons will be held mainly in Spanish; although you are not required to speak Spanish some knowledge may be useful


Start Days
- Courses start on Mondays throughout the year


Flamenco Guitar Class Schedule
- Classes start at 1.45pm Monday - Friday each week
- Each class lasts 90 minutes


What Will I Learn?
- Half the lessons will be devoted to technique; practicing scales, arpeggios and flamenco techniques, such as picaos (playing the melodic line with the index and middle finger), arzapúa (playing various strings at the same time with the thumb), rasgueos (strumming with the fingers of the right hand)
- The remaining time will be used to work on a flamenco style such as Tangos, Soleá or Fandangos


Guitar
- Please bring your own guitar
- A limited amount of guitars are available to hire, if you'd like to hire a guitar, please check availability with us first by emailing , calling us or clicking on the 'start chat' button at the bottom of the page to chat with an operator


Free Time in Granada
Many people on these holiday courses travel solo as they make perfect singles holidays so the dance school organises a host of social and cultural activities each week to help you to get to know your fellow dancers and to integrate you into the Spanish way of life, some activities are free and others have a small charge and may include:
- Various cultural discussions and visits to Granada
- You will be informed about special events that are taking place in Granada and the surroundings area
- You will be given a key to access the school anytime between the hours of 8am-11pm 7 days a week should you wish to relax in the ‘el salon’ or on the terraces surrounded by the music of Flamenco
- Weekends are free for you to explore the local area or just kick back and relax on this learning holiday with a difference


Longer Courses
- You can enrol on a Flamenco guitar course for anything up to 3 months
