This creative and relaxing yoga, cooking and nutrition holiday offers beautiful villa accommodation set amongst the volcanoes of the traditional Canarian village of Villaverde, just 10 minutes from the white-sand beaches of Corralejo. Discover how delicious healthy food can be through fun cooking classes and nutritional workshops.

Your friendly head chef and nutritionist for the week is Jo, who excels in making delicious healthy food exciting and empowering others to do the same. She is a wife and mother of two with a full time job, so Jo understands how difficult it can be to find the time to eat healthily in a busy life and will pass on her passion of healthy living to you!

During the week, you’ll have 4 fantastic cookery classes which focus on breakfast, lunches, dinners and healthy snacks. Discover how to make tasty breakfasts including bread, pancakes, marmalade, mixed grain porridge, ghee and spicy fruit salad. Jo will also share her top tips for healthy lunches.

In the dinner cooking classes, you’ll focus on vegetarian dishes that will leave meat eaters wanting more! Finally, your snacks cooking class will explore how delicious gluten-free, sugar-free and raw foods can be – the cakes and sweet treats you’ll make are not only heavenly but healthy too.

There are also 2 nutritional workshops during the week which focus on healthy living and what’s really in your food. Learn about the human body and how food affects our minds, bodies and souls with Jo, who loves to share her passion for healthy living.

Enjoy daily yoga classes to really rejuvenate and unwind outside of your cooking classes and feel the benefits of this retreat. This holistic retreat has a team of experienced therapists offering complementary therapies, holistic massage and beauty treatments and a 1 hour full body massage is included with your stay.
 
In between cooking classes, yoga lessons and food you can simply relax around the unheated swimming pool or beach or explore the island. Transfers to the beach and to the town are included and you can join excursions to other parts of the island, rent bikes or take a surf course.

For a fun and sociable retreat experience, the Canarias shared apartment is a great way to get to know like-minded people. The apartment consists of two bedrooms, each with 2 single beds, a lounge area with sofa, a kichenette, a spacious bathroom, and outdoor terrace looking on to the pool.

Yoga, Cooking And Nutrition Holiday Itinerary

Please note that the itinerary is for guidance only and may change week to week:

Saturday – arrival and yoga class
- Arrive at the retreat this morning and settle into your room
- Enjoy a gentle yoga and meditation class in the afternoon
- There will be a delicious evening meal tonight to welcome you to the retreat

Sunday – yoga classes and nutrition workshop
- Start the day with an invigorating yoga class before breakfast
- Breakfast is followed by an introduction by Jo, head chef at the retreat, who will talk you through what you can expect from the week
- There will an early evening yoga class followed by a lovely dinner
- After dinner, you’ll have your first nutrition workshop with Jo

Monday – yoga classes and lunchtime cooking classes
- Enjoy a morning yoga class followed by breakfast
- You’ll have your first cooking lesson at lunchtime where you’ll learn to cook delicious, healthy lunch dishes
- Eat the tasty food you’ve made for lunch
- There will be an early evening yoga session tonight

Tuesday – breakfast cooking class and yoga class
- This morning, your cooking class will focus on making breakfast dishes
- Taste your dishes once you’ve finished cooking for breakfast
- Yoga will take place early evening followed by an evening meal

Wednesday – yoga class and evening cooking class
- After your yoga class and breakfast this morning, you have a free day to relax and explore the area
- This evening, you’ll have your third cooking class which focuses on cooking delicious evening meal dishes
- Enjoy these dishes for your dinner tonight

Thursday – yoga classes and Ayurveda theory workshop
- After your yoga class and breakfast this morning, it’s time for your second workshop
- This workshop focusses on Ayurveda theory and Jo will help you to dispel the myths and understand the benefits
- After lunch, you’ll have your final cooking class which focusses on healthy cakes and snacks
- Enjoy a peaceful yoga class this evening

Friday – yoga classes and farewell meal
- Enjoy a morning yoga class followed by breakfast
- After your yoga class this evening, you’ll have a farewell meal with the rest of the group where you can reflect on the new delicious culinary skills you’ve learnt

Saturday – yoga class and departure meal
- Have one final yoga class this morning before checking out feeling refreshed and invigorated with new recipes to take home with you


Where Will I Practise Yoga And Cook?
- Yoga is practised on the spacious yoga deck in the villa's garden or in the tranquil indoor studio
- You’ll learn to cook in the spacious kitchen at the retreat


About Your Chef And Nutritionist
- Your friendly head chef and nutritionist for the week is Jo
- Originally from Denmark, Jo has lived in Fuerteventura for many years and has published a fantastic cookbook
- She excels in making delicious healthy food exciting and empowering others to do the same
- She is a wife and mother of two with a full time job, so Jo understands how difficult it can be to find the time to eat healthily in a busy life
- Jo studied nutrition (both western and ayurvedic) for many years and loved to pass on her knowledge of this through her recipes
- Jo’s passion for food and nutrition are catching and you’re bound to return enthused by all of her top tips!
- Having turned her life around through the power of good food well made, she loves to inspire and support others in their journey towards a healthier, happier lifestyle
- This week is designed to do exactly that, all while you have some fun in the kitchen along with Jo and a friendly group of like-minded people!

What Will I Learn In My Yoga Lessons?
- Yoga practice will be adapted for all levels from complete beginners to advanced
- Teachers will demonstrate modifications and advancements to exercises/poses and classes will be split into ability levels where necessary
- Your yoga classes will be based on different yoga styles of Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Kundalini, Power and Yoga Nidra
- Yoga practice will cover Asanas (physical movements), Pranayama (breathing practices), Meditation (stilling and calming of the mind & inner self) and Relaxation (complete mind, body relaxation)
- Meditation will include yoga nidra, guided meditation, kundalini yoga
- The small groups allow you to explore alignment within your pose as well as fluid movement from one pose to the next working with our teachers to deepen your practice whatever your level
- The teacher will give you one-to-one attention giving you the confidence to develop a home practice


What Will I Learn In The Cooking Lessons?
- Benefiting from Jo's extensive knowledge and experience of both western and Ayurveda cooking and nutrition, you will gain a deeper knowledge and appreciation for the food you are eating
- You’ll also learn the impact the food has on your body and mind
- You will learn how to prepare and combine food to ensure maximum nutrition and minimum waste
- You’ll hopefully feel empowered to make healthy choices and to make cooking and eating a real joy in your life
- You will also learn to tune in to your body more, and really discover what is right for you, and what will support you in living a healthier, happier life


Treatments / Massages

- Includes a 1 hour full body massage
- Massages and treatments are available and if you wish to book other treatments, your host Karissa can help you arrange this with the therapist during the week


About The Accommodation - Canarias Shared Apartment
- You’ll spend 7 nights / 8 days in tranquil villa accommodation in a shared room
- Prices are based on 1 person in a shared apartment (sharing with 3 other people of the same gender) with 4 single beds, kitchen, bathroom, lounge and pool terrace

- There is a lovely pool with sun loungers and plenty of comfy indoor and outdoor seating areas
- Check-in is on arrival day after 2pm and check-out is on day 8 by 10am


Meals
- You’ll have 4 cooking classes during the week focusing on breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner recipes
- You’ll get to eat these delicious meals during the week
- A daily healthy brunch comprising of fruits, home-baked bread, cereals and muesli, eggs, salad, teas and juice is served after each morning session
- Five healthy vegetarian evening meals are served during the week
- All meals are designed and prepared by the in-house nutritionist, Jo
- Jo uses only the finest, freshest ingredients to cook delicious, healthy and balanced meals
- Meals are vegetarian based
- If you are vegetarian, vegan or have dietary requests these must be communicated to us at the time of booking
- Award-winning restaurants, an outstanding bakery and a supermarket are just 5 minutes’ walk away, and the town of Corralejo is 10 minutes’ drive away
