About the location
Your beautiful studio accommodation lies in the grounds of a restored medieval convent house, lovingly returned to its former glory by your attentive and friendly hosts Don and Trisha. The Studio is fully equipped with state of the art computers and software to give you the tools you need to transform your photographic skills on this luxury photography holiday with a difference.
From picturesque walks through lovely countryside, to concerts in ancient baroque churches, to a huge range of summer fetes and festivals and fabulous food and wine markets, there is just so much to see and do. Alternatively, the photography school has an outdoor swimming pool and extensive collection of books for you to read, so you will also have time to relax and unwind in the sun-drenched flower garden. The village has recently been awarded a cite de patrimoine Michelin star.
Your hosts, Don and Trisha, are natural hosts and entertainers who take pleasure in teaching and inspiring budding photographers to flourish. Your talented photography instructor Don has recently won three Photographic Awards! Trisha loves taking advantage of the lovely fresh food market on their doorstep and cooking delicious meals from local produce. Local wine also features at evening meals, which is famous throughout France. Trisha is a keen painter and is more than happy to help guests get started with a few pointers in their spare time. They are fantastic hosts who go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure you have a memorable and productive stay.
Charente is famous for having some of the prettiest villages in France and there are 43 lovely walks on the doorstep of the photography school, providing some perfect photography opportunities, Medieval gardens, monolithic churches and limestone cliffs offering panoramic views are all a mere stone’s throw away and the Lizonne river is lined by pretty water mills. Take a walk (or borrow a bike for free) and you’re bound to see impressive birds of prey, and an array of rare wading birds and flora.
