About the location
This excellent Argentinean Tango School in Colmenar Andalucia has been established by an English and Irish couple that have been practising the art of Argentine Tango for over 15 years.
The hosts Ken and Erika ran a Tango school in Yorkshire for many years before moving to Spain to practise their passion in the Andalucian sun and at the vibrant local Milongas. Here's what they have to say about tango:
"We are not stage dancers, we dance salón tango and nothing else. We feel that tango is not pure tango if it is not an improvised dance that concentrates on the feeling, the music and your partner. We only teach what can be danced at tango milongas, especially on a busy dance floor so that our students can leave us equiped to join in local social dancing in their own home town / country. We emphasise work on the basics, because that is what tango is about: a comfortable embrace, good posture and balance, easy walking, positive leading and active following. Tango is not about long, complicated sequences. Tango is made up of small elements, single movements which can be strung together with complete freedom. Our philosophy is that tango is first and foremost a social dance and we share the dance floor with other couples, respecting each other and moving in harmony in the line of dance."
Together they have the passion and experience to help you experience the true art of the passionate Argentinean Tango. With a maximum of 4 students, you'll be assured personal attention and your Tango technique will progress rapidly during your stay in Spain.
Perched on the slopes of the Andalucían mountains, 40 minutes drive from Malaga, your experienced dance teachers will help to unleash the dancer within you by teaching you the basics of Argentine Tango, helping you perfect your technique and understanding of this sensual dance whether you are a budding Tango dancer or a more experienced level, Ken and Erika will be able adapt the lessons to your level.
During your Tango dance holiday you will have the chance to spend a full evening at a local Milonga either in nearby Malaga or Granada.
The purpose built villa provides accommodation of the highest quality including a beautiful private swimming pool and professional dance studio.
In your free time you can explore the stunning surrounding landscapes by renting a bike, go fishing, explore the regions cultural delights, enjoy the towns of Malaga, Cordoba and Granada practice your Tango skills in the professional studio.
