The lesson before the camp extras
A credible session explains the selected beach, safety boundary and day’s goal. You practise a level-matched drill, make supervised attempts and use feedback on the next wave. Ask how coaches divide levels, how much water time is typical and whether video or photo review leads to a specific correction.
Accommodation, meals and yoga can make a comfortable camp, but they should not obscure coached hours. Compare the price by surf sessions, group size, transport, board choice and the named fallback when the sea is unsuitable.
Choose Ericeira for its rhythm
Staying in town lets surf shape the day. Some beaches are walkable; others require school transport. The coach may choose the exact break only after checking tide, swell, wind and crowd.
