Sagres has an exposed Atlantic character that suits surf coaching and coastal interpretation. Its value comes from informed beach choice, not from the myth that the far southwest is always wild or always suitable.
A surf coach should choose between available orientations after reading wind, swell and level. The learner practises a declared drill, receives feedback and tries again. A school transfer from Lagos may end here, but the real water location should still be named.
Coastal interpretation can teach geology, navigation, weather and the relationship between headland and sea. Standing at a viewpoint with a short history talk is a visit; a guided comparison gives you a clue you can apply at the next stop.
Wind is part of the plan. Bring layers even in warmer months, keep outdoor timing movable, and ask for a land-based alternative when the sea is unsuitable.
