Guide expertise matters
Ask what the guide studies, which sources shape the route and how uncertainty is handled. A confident story is not necessarily a reliable one. Good interpretation distinguishes documented history, oral tradition, current practice and the guide’s own inference.
Marrakech is rich in heritage tours, but we have not listed a host simply because they offer a generic medina walk. Look for a route with a clear historical question, named sites and sources, and time to discuss what changed between periods.
