Lagos has a busy harbour and open-coast setting suited to sailing tuition. Its many scenic cruises make an active crew role especially useful when comparing options.
A taught session introduces the boat and safety, then gives you a repeated task. You may steer, trim, handle a line or practise a tack while the instructor observes and corrects. Ask how turns are shared and whether the advertised duration includes harbour preparation or sightseeing.
The departure marina, vessel and wind policy should be named. “Hands-on” is too vague if one guest briefly takes the helm while the skipper manages everything else.
Cliff scenery can accompany the lesson without becoming its purpose. Choose the session for what you will handle and improve, then book a separate cruise if sightseeing is what you want. Bring non-slip footwear, check the marina meeting point and ask about equipment, group size and turns for each learner.
