Portugal offers several good bases for European Portuguese, but the teaching format matters more than a country-wide “immersion” promise. Compare taught hours, not programme labels

A useful course places you at the right level, makes you speak or listen actively, corrects a specific point and lets you try again. Ask whether the stated hours are classroom contact hours, how levels are divided and how much each learner speaks.
